ヴュー・ウィズ・ア・ルーム / ザ・レイヤーズ [UHQCD] / ジュリアン・ラージ
現代ジャズを代表するギタリストの1人、ジュリアン・ラージ。ゲイリー・バートンやチャールス・ロイドなど多くのジャズ・レジェンドと共演し、ニューヨーク・タイムズからも"天賦の才"と称賛を受け、2021年にブルーノート移籍後も精力的なリリースを続けている。本作は、そんな彼が4年振りに行う来日公演を記念した日本独自企画盤。同一セッションで制作されたという2022年リリースの『ヴュー・ウィズ・ア・ルーム』と、2023年リリースの『ザ・レイヤーズ』に加え、未発表音源として「トリビュタリー」のトリオ・ヴァージョンを加えた、まさにコンプリート・セッションズと言える内容となっている。メンバーはベーシストにホルヘ・ローダー、ドラマーにデイヴ・キングというレギュラー・トリオで、そこにビル・フリゼールがゲスト参加。これまでもデュオ・コンサートやジョン・ゾーンが考案したプロジェクトなど、さまざまな文脈で共演してきたジュリアンとビルだが、今回の作品では新たなオーケストレーションの可能性を探っているような必聴のコンビネーションを披露している。
